The Issue
Let's be real. The education system is failing many of our students, especially those in urban and low-income areas. In the post-COVID era, there are significant gaps in students' education, and even the most dedicated, effective teachers are struggling to adequately address all students' needs within their class periods. This challenge is exacerbated by budget cuts, understaffed schools, and overcrowded classes. With that being said, for most students, class time alone is not enough!
So, where are our students going to receive the assistance they need? Unfortunately, not every school has the resources to provide additional academic services for all students, whether through after-school programs or even throughout the day. Even if we consider options outside of the school building, access to high-quality academic support is limited. In fact, the high cost of tutoring services—with some tutors charging over $100 per hour—makes supplementary education inaccessible for many families.

In pursuit of educational equity, Ki to Success has created a sanctuary that fosters inquiry-based knowledge acquisition, nurtures students' sense of self, and instills a genuine love of learning. This approach is designed to stimulate students' natural curiosity, enhance their critical thinking abilities, and develop their skills in making interdisciplinary and personal connections. By encouraging students to ask questions, explore ideas, and discover answers for themselves, Ki to Success aims to cultivate a deeper, more engaging learning experience. This method not only promotes academic growth but also promotes the intellectual curiosity that is essential for lifelong learning.
At its core, Ki to Success is committed to making rigorous, problem-posing education accessible to all students; it intends to do this through a sliding-scale fee structure. In addition to making supplementary education accessible to all learners, Ki to Success directly responds to the aforementioned issue through its educational model. By having students learn from a holistic approach, students are inherently more engaged and more likely to retain the necessary content. At Ki to Success, instructors know that the KEY to success is that learning can be fun and personable!

Meet the Founder
With over a decade of tutoring experience and two years of lead teaching in NYC public schools, Kiana founded Ki to Success. Through her academic endeavors as well as her various positions in district, charter, and private schools, Kiana has gained valuable insight into the pitfalls of the school system.
Recognizing schools’ shortcomings in meeting the scholarly and social-emotional needs of diverse learners, Kiana ardently bloomed into an advocate for abolitionist teaching. Accordingly, she created Ki to Success as a pathway to helping ALL students receive a high-quality education that is within their families' financial means.
Wanting learners to have access to holistic tutoring services, Kiana established Ki to Success' approach to education as a culmination of her own passions, including social and restorative justice, social-emotional learning, educational equity, mental health advocacy, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
